
We have three categories of teachers, offering different levels of experience and expertise, in order to provide lessons at various price levels while still meeting the instructional needs of the student.
Level I Instructors are students, typically college music education majors, who teach under indirect supervision from a music faculty member. These instructors are carefully selected and approved based on our personal knowledge of their capability.
Our Level I instructors are Sarah Agee, Elizabeth Brewster, Brooks Gatlin, Elizabeth Harrell, Brittany Jones, Travis Kaye, Jennica Leath, Brad Light, Ryan Locke, Claire McLean, Kris Perkins, Scott Rampy, Jenna Roosevelt, Amanda Royse, Stephanie Sterry, Samantha Strange, Holly Walker, David Walton Jacob Ward, James Wilhite, and Bethany Yarbrough (not all are pictured below).

Level II Instructors are qualified adults with several years of teaching and/or performing experience.
Our Level II instructors are Jamie Goslin and Mary Jo Sherwood, both of whom teach violin.
Jamie Goslin has played violin since the age of eight. As a high school student, she traveled to Finland to perform with the All-Michigan Youth Symphony. She has performed with the Nashville Youth Symphony, the UCA Orchestra, and the Pine Bluff Symphony Orchestra. She has also been a member of the Searcy String Quartet for the last sixteen years.
Mary Jo Sherwood is currently a Pre-K through Grade 6 general music instructor at Riverview School District with a K-12 vocal/instrumental teaching certificate from Harding University. She has many years of piano training and accompanying, was recently trained and licensed as a Kindermusik instructor, and was a flute major in college at Emporia State University. The Suzuki String program, former White County Youth Orchestra, local Community orchestra and other adult performing groups have provided additional string, flute, and keyboard teaching, training, and performance opportunities.
Level III Instructors are university music faculty members who have advanced degrees in music, as well as many years of teaching experience.
Our Level III instructors are Dr. Cindy Carrell, Dr. Scott Carrell, and Dr. Patricia Cox.

Dr. Cynthia Thompson Carrell has been at Harding University since 1998, teaching trumpet, horn, music theory and other courses. She has also served as Principal Trumpet in the Pine Bluff Symphony since 1999. She earned a Bachelor of Music Education at the University of North Texas (1986), and the Masters in Music Education and Doctorate of Musical Arts in Trumpet Performance from the University of Illinois (1997).

Dr. Scott Carrell currently teaches piano, music theory and composition at Harding University and is in demand as a soloist, collaborative artist, teacher and adjudicator. He holds degrees from Southwestern University, the University of Illinois, and the D.M.A. from the University of North Texas. An active member of the Music Teachers National Association, he serves as the South Central Division coordinator for the student composition competition. Other professional affiliations include the honorary music fraternity Delta Omicron and Pi Kappa Lambda.
Dr. Patricia Cox is professor of music at Harding University. She began her career as an elementary general music teacher with a private home studio. She has had experience with middle school band, orchestra, and chorus in public schools in Texas, Wisconsin, and Arkansas. Dr. Cox has been teaching music for more than 30 years. She has a B.S. from Texas Woman's University in Denton, a M.Ed. From Harding University, and a Ph.D. from the University of North Texas. She has played violin and viola with symphony orchestras in Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, and Arkansas. She plays regularly with the Delta Symphony Orchestra of Jonesboro and the Searcy String Quartet. Dr. Cox is the liaison between Searcy Arts Council and Searcy Community School of Music.
