Summer Camps

SCSM Summer Music Camps are week-long day camps for students ages 7 to 17 occurring JULY 15-19, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Reynolds Center of Harding University.  Registration and payment of $125 per camper is due by July 1.

• FUN WITH MUSIC is designed for all students ages 7-17 interested in music. In addition to Music Theory class, Fun with Music campers have Experiencing Music class plus three other class choices.
• PIANO CAMP is designed for student pianists ages 7-17 with 2+ years of instruction. In addition to Music Theory class, Piano Campers will participate in Piano Ensemble I or II plus 2 other class choices, including Chamber-Music Ensembles for more advanced players.
• STRING ORCHESTRA CAMP is designed for string players ages 7-17 with 1+ years of instruction. In addition to Music Theory class, String Campers will participate in String Orchestra I or II plus 2 other class choices, including. Chamber-Music Ensembles for more advanced players
• CHORAL CAMP is designed for all students ages 7-17 who like to sing. All campers have Music Theory class, and Choral Campers will sing in Chorus plus 2 other class choices, including Broadway Workshop.

• NEW! GUITAR CAMP is designed for all guitarists with 2+ years of instruction. In addition to Music Theory, Guitar Campers will participate in Guitar Ensemble plus 2 other class choices, including Chamber-Music Ensembles for more advanced players.

Camp Class Options

• MAKING MUSIC: Create our own performances with singing, playing, poetry, and movement.
• EXPERIENCING MUSIC: Discover what music is made of (Fun with Music Campers).
• MUSIC MASTERPIECES: Enjoy and respond to famous musical masterpieces and composers.
• EXPERIENCING BROADWAY: Experience and learn about classic Broadway Musicals.
• COMPOSITION I, II, III: Explore the art and craft of writing music.
• CONDUCTING I, II: Learn to conduct and lead music.
• BEGINNING PIANO CLASS: Explore piano in a group setting (beginners only).
• BEGINNING UKULELE CLASS: Begin playing ukulele in a group setting (beginners only).
• BUCKET DRUMMING: Have fun learning about rhythm with bucket drumming.
• BROADWAY WORKSHOP: Feel the thrill of performing Broadway scenes (Choir campers only).
• CHAMBER-MUSIC ENSEMBLES: Experience the thrill of performing in small groups of various instrument combinations (advanced Piano and String campers only).
